Job Description
As a Data Scientist – Asset Management in the ICEA LION Data Analytics Team, you will work closely with investment and data professionals across ICEA LION Asset Management to proactively source, due diligence and draw insights from in-house investment and alternative data. The role will help develop and drive innovative solutions for amplifying data-driven investment decision-making, improved client engagement, and operational effectiveness. This role will assist in all phases of project work, including problem identification, formulation, model development, and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with portfolio managers to understand sources of alpha and opportunities to improve decision-making process
• Build tools and systems to understand decision data, context and events around it to enhance ICEA LION Asset Management’s decision attribution capabilities and systematically identify opportunities
• Work with partners in technology and user experience to build out tools providing real-time insights to portfolio managers and their teams
• Take part in projects along the full data science spectrum. From data acquisition and wrangling, to model selection to presentation and data visualization.
• Analyze and visualize diverse sources of data, interpret results in a business context and report results clearly and concisely
• Work collaboratively with different business partners and be able to present results in a clear and concise manner
• Assist with developing and deploying educational workshops/seminar series for staff to accelerate data maturity.
• Communicate results/findings; draft and edit scientific abstracts, presentations, and journal articles.
• Present work at workshops, seminars, and conference proceedings within and outside of the company.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business or Physics
• Master’s degree and professional qualifications will be added advantage.
• Qualified or Nearly Qualified CFA will be added advantage
• 1-3 years relevant experience in Financial Services
• Prior experience working in alpha capture, performance attribution or trading / decision analytics role will be added advantage
• Strong analytical/modelling skills and business orientation with proven ability to use data and analytics to drive business results; strong technical background
• Demonstrate solid experience working within a data team, including Time series analysis and modelling; Training and fine-tuning of the Machine Learning model for investment models; Strong knowledge of Python for data scientists (e.g., pandas), traditional Machine Learning and deep learning libraries (e.g., scikit learn, xgboost, TensorFlow, Torch, etc.); Data manipulation languages (e.g., SQL); Data visualization / presentation skills (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI and DOMO)
• Demonstrate experience working with engineering, developers and other technology teams – Writing production quality code, unit testing and familiarity with version control; Familiar with cloud-based technologies.
• Strong communications skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience

Job Purpose
The overall purpose of the job holder is to analyze, create, interpret, and present summary results of Group financial data. The Analyst will work with group company accountants, and other finance professionals to produce Group reports and analyses to aid decision-making. In addition, the job holder will support the accounting and financial analyses and forecasting of future performance
Roles and Responsibilities
· Work collaboratively with other accounting officers within the Group to produce financial reports that support business executives in decision making · Utilize analytical and mathematical skills to analyze key financial data · Prepare financial reports on a determined schedule or on request to help group management make informed decisions · Present financial reports and estimates to decision makers within the Group · Utilize technical skills to create charts and graphs for visual understanding · Research current economic and financial outlook where necessary and provide insights to business executives · Investigate and provide feedback on accounting irregularities · Analyzing data to identify trends or patterns to help make business decisions |
- Preparing reports for senior management about the financial status of the Group in order to make strategic decisions about future operations
Requirements
§ At least 5 years’ experience in a fast-paced working environment with interactions with Senior leaders/executives
- Experience in high level accounting analysis for a busy organization or a group of companies.
§ Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related fields preferred
§ A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title is preferred
§ Critical analytics or mathematical skills and a proven ability to do difficult calculations and analysis
§ Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
§ Prior experience using database tools and spreadsheet software such as MySQL and Excel
§ Experience using data visualization tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau
§ Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations and utilize information in written reports

Job Description
Product development:
- Assist in individual life insurance product pricing from ideation to product launch
- Assist in the reviewing and monitoring of internal experience and trends to ensure company product pricing meets profit targets
- Assist in ensuring product pricing is consistent with the set underwriting policy and regulatory guidance
- Provide analysis to support the renegotiation of existing group contracts
- Assist system vendors in product setup in the administration system
- Assist in reviewing and monitoring experience on all products to inform pricing assumptions and decision-making including profit testing of existing products
- Prepare reports on product performance for management decision-making
- Work closely with reassures to ensure treaty optimization
- Product Approvals: Assist in driving the product approval process both within the Company and externally with the Insurance Regulator and other government bodies – where relevant.
- Product Documentation: Assist in developing and continually review product training manuals and marketing materials that are appropriate to the target market and distribution channel of the products.
Valuation:
- Assist with new product implementation into the valuation systems and provide future projections under the valuation standards at the time
- Assess the capital requirements of new products that assists with capital consumption and choice of product designs
Experience Investigation:
- Assist with the annual experience investigations on key assumptions for pricing and valuations.
- Sensitivity analysis and impact assessment of the various assumptions
Asset Liability Modeling (ALM):
- Assist with the quarterly preparation of ALM calculations and presentations to management in relation to the new and existing products
Actuarial Modelling:
- Assist in building and maintaining models for pricing, Value of New Business (VNB), ALM, capital modeling and experience investigations
Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree in actuarial science, statistics, engineering, mathematics or any equivalent with a strong emphasis on mathematical proficiency
- Good Progress in the Institute of Actuaries examinations or any other recognized Actuarial bodies
- At least 2 years’ experience in an actuarial function focused on pricing of new products or repricing/ product review
- Practical end to end Product development experience
- Practical end to end Prophet modelling experience will be an added advantage
