Established in 1998, Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) is an independent not-for-profit think-and-do-tank that works through research, policy engagement, thought leadership, and civic dialogue and partnerships to promote and strengthen democracy, good governance, and inclusive development in Ghana and the rest of Africa. A founding Core Partner (and Ghana National Partner) of Afrobarometer, CDD-Ghana is also the convenor and secretariat for the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), West Africa Election Observers Network (WAEON), and West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS).
Job Description
To enhance its digital presence, accessibility, and user experience, CDD seeks to redevelop its website to align with modern web standards and improve engagement with stakeholders.
Objectives of the Website Redevelopment
The website redevelopment aims to:
- Modernize the CDD website to improve user experience and accessibility.
- Ensure the website is mobile-friendly and responsive across all devices.
- Enhance security features and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
- Improve content management capabilities for easier updates and maintenance.
- Integrate multimedia content, social media feeds, and an interactive user interface.
- Optimize website performance, loading speed, and search engine visibility.
- Provide an intuitive navigation structure for different categories of users.
- Implement analytics tools for tracking website performance and user engagement.
Scope of Work
The website developer will be responsible for:
- Conducting an assessment of the current website and identifying areas for improvement.
- Designing wireframes and mockups for approval before development.
- Developing a responsive and user-friendly website with a clean and modern interface.
- Implementing a robust content management system (CMS) for easy content updates.
- Enhancing security features, including SSL certification, data encryption, and protection against cyber threats.
- Ensuring compatibility across different browsers and devices.
- Integrating multimedia elements such as videos, podcasts, and image galleries.
- Embedding social media feeds and interactive features to enhance engagement.
- Implementing SEO best practices for better search engine ranking.
- Conducting user testing and obtaining feedback for final refinements.
- Providing training for CDD staff on content management and website maintenance.
Deliverables
The website developer will be required to deliver:
- An inception report outlining the work plan, methodology, and timelines.
- Wireframes and design mockups for review and approval.
- A fully functional, responsive, and user-friendly website.
- A CMS training session for CDD staff, along with a user manual.
- A final report summarizing the development process and recommendations for ongoing maintenance.
- Post-launch technical support for a specified period.
Required Skills or Experience
The ideal website developer should have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in website development and UI/UX design.
- Proven experience in developing websites for similar organizations.
- Proficiency in modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of web security, SEO optimization, and analytics tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- A portfolio of previous website development projects.
