Job Title: IT and Systems Admin
Reporting Supervisor: Chief Finance Officer
- JOB PURPOSE
The IT and Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital’s IT infrastructure, managing hospital information systems, maintaining data security, and providing technical support to all departments. The role involves overseeing system performance, implementing security protocols, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. IT Infrastructure Management
- Oversee the hospital’s IT network, servers, and hardware systems.
- Manage and maintain the hospital’s internet and intranet services.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot network and hardware issues.
- Implement upgrades and patches to ensure system security and efficiency.
2. Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) Administration
- Manage and maintain the hospital’s HMIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Provide training and support to hospital staff on HMIS usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.
- Ensure proper integration of HMIS with other hospital systems such as billing, pharmacy, and laboratory.
3. Data Security and Compliance
- Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures to protect hospital data.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with data protection laws and hospital policies.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Control access to sensitive patient and hospital information.
4. Technical Support and Training
- Provide IT support to all hospital departments, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Conduct user training on IT policies, data security, and system usage.
- Assist in troubleshooting medical equipment software-related issues.
5. IT Procurement and Asset Management
- Assess and recommend IT equipment and software purchases.
- Maintain an updated inventory of IT assets and ensure proper utilization.
- Liaise with vendors for IT equipment servicing and support.
6. Cost Control and Efficiency Improvement
- Identify and implement cost-cutting measures in IT operations.
- Optimize system performance to reduce downtime and operational inefficiencies.
- Monitor IT-related expenses and provide cost analysis reports.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
- JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in IT administration, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience managing Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, and system administration.
- Familiarity with healthcare data protection laws and compliance requirements.
Technical skills/Leadership competencies
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and support non-technical users.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling hospital data.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies promptly.

- English
