Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse Intern, your role will involve delivering high-quality patient care under the guidance of experienced nursing professionals. Key duties include:
- Assessing and planning nursing interventions: You will be responsible for evaluating patient conditions and planning suitable nursing care interventions to improve health outcomes.
- Implementing nursing interventions: Provide nursing care in line with established medical guidelines and protocols to meet patient needs.
- Evaluating patient outcomes: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of care plans, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal patient recovery.
- Providing healthcare services: Offer various health services such as Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), Immunization, PMTCT, Antenatal Care, and Delivery services to ensure patient well-being.
- Health Education and Counselling: Educate patients and their families on health promotion strategies and counsel them on managing chronic conditions.
- Patient Referral: Refer patients and clients to appropriate health professionals or institutions when necessary.
- Patient Admission and Discharge Planning: Assist in admitting patients to health facilities and work on discharge plans to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintaining Health Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patients’ health conditions and treatment plans.
- Ensuring a Safe Clinical Environment: Uphold safety and cleanliness in clinical settings to minimize risks to patients and staff.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Gather and compile data on patients’ progress and healthcare services for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Qualifications and Skills
To qualify for this Registered Nurse Internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Diploma in Nursing: Candidates must possess a Diploma in one of the following disciplines:
- Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing
- Kenya Registered Nursing
- Kenya Registered Midwifery
- Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery
- Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry
- These qualifications must be from recognized institutions.
- Nursing Council of Kenya Registration: Applicants must hold a valid Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Practicing License: A valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya is mandatory.
- Age Requirement: Candidates should be 35 years old or below.
