The officer claimed, “It’s a new matter and not the Nane Nane or the tear gas canister issue.”
Wanjigi wrote on his X account at approximately 4:20 pm stating that he was being detained by cops.
“The DCI has illegally arrested me despite numerous court orders barring the same arrest,” he said.
Wanjigi had appeared before police on Monday to answer questions over allegations that he had sponsored protests in Nane Nane.
He was also going to be questioned by the cops on his alleged possession of tear gas canisters at his Nairobi house in Muthaiga.
He has disputed the allegations and said they are driven by politics.
Wanjigi was summoned to the Nairobi Area DCI headquarters on August 19 to face interrogation by the police.
This comes following their fruitless attempt to arrest him at his residence on August 8.
Wanjigi was led inside for the grilling session after arriving at the Nairobi Area at around 2:00 pm with his legal team.
Wanjigi had gone to court and got a restraining order against being arrested.
