About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Backend Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the server-side logic and infrastructure that powers our applications. This role requires strong expertise in Python and/or Node.js, along with a commitment to meeting activity and time-tracking requirements in a flexible, performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Python and/or Node.js.
Build efficient and reusable code while adhering to best practices in backend development.
Integrate third-party APIs and services as needed for project requirements.
Design and optimize database schemas to ensure data integrity and performance.
Work with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
Collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration between client-side and server-side logic.
Communicate effectively within the team, participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
Implement solutions to optimize backend performance for speed and scalability.
Ensure backend systems are secure and comply with industry standards.
Commit to working a minimum of 6 hours daily.
Log work hours and tasks using time-tracking tools for transparency.
Provide regular updates on project progress and deliverables.

Key Qualifications

Proven experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js.
Experience with RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and server-side frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Express).
Familiarity with Docker and containerized application deployments.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) is a plus.
