Constante Gakpo has shared her emotional ordeal of being deceived by a man who not only swindled her out of a significant amount of money but also betrayed her trust. She discovered that this man, who claimed to love her, was not only seeing multiple other women but was also married with children.
Meeting Kweku on Facebook
Constante met Kweku on Facebook, where they initially connected as friends. Their relationship quickly grew as they started chatting online. Constante, who works as a conference translator, found herself attracted to Kweku after checking out his profile.
“He told me he was a cybersecurity expert,” she explained. “Our conversations flowed naturally, and I felt like I had known him for a long time. We spent hours on the phone, and I truly believed he could be ‘the one.'”
Although the relationship seemed promising, Constante started noticing red flags but couldn’t quite figure out what was wrong. She felt something was being kept from her, yet Kweku’s charm masked his hidden life.

Constante continued the relationship, hoping her doubts were just insecurities. However, her suspicions were confirmed in the most unexpected way. One day, she received a message on Instagram from a woman who claimed they shared a mutual acquaintance.
“I received a message saying, ‘I think we know someone in common. Kweku is actually dating my best friend and has mentioned you to her as a colleague at a telephone company. They’ve been together for five months, and he’s been taking money from her.'”
Shocked by the revelation, Constante decided to dig deeper. She got the other woman’s number, and they began sharing their experiences. It was then that she learned that Kweku wasn’t just seeing her or one other woman; he was dating several women, all of whom believed they were in an exclusive relationship.
As the women compared notes, they formed a WhatsApp group to connect the pieces of the puzzle and confront the lies they had all been told. Together, they planned to expose Kweku for the fraud he was.
One of the women decided to report him to the authorities. Constante, who had lost the most money to Kweku, decided to support the legal action. Their plan led to Kweku’s arrest after one of the women invited him to a spa date and sent him some money. The police were ready and arrested him at the spa.
During the investigation, even more shocking details about Kweku’s life came to light. His mother was called to the police station, where she revealed that Kweku was actually a married man with two children. His youngest child was just one and a half years old. All the money he had taken from Constante and the other women had been going to support his family.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was essentially feeding a grown man and his family,” Constante said. “We had been together for eight months, and I found out so many disturbing things during that time that I can hardly talk about them. It was such a traumatic experience that I decided to write a book about it, Waltzing With The Devil.”

Emotional Trauma and Moving Forward
Constante described the emotional damage caused by Kweku’s lies, manipulation, and gaslighting. She endured months of emotional abuse, which left her struggling with trust issues and a deep sense of betrayal.
“The emotional trauma, the torture, the lies—I had to find a way to heal, and writing was one of those ways,” she explained. “People may assume that I was naive or foolish, but that’s not true. I loved him, and when you’re in love, sometimes your judgment gets clouded. It can happen to anyone, no matter how smart you are.”
Through her story, Constante hopes to raise awareness about relationship fraud and remind others that it’s possible to be taken advantage of in the name of love. Sharing her experience has been a step toward healing, and her message is clear: emotional manipulation can happen to anyone, and it’s important to speak out and seek support.
Constante’s story is a powerful reminder that love can sometimes blind us to the truth, making us vulnerable to manipulation. Her courage in sharing her experience sheds light on the emotional and financial toll such relationships can take. By sharing her story and writing her book, Constante hopes to help others recognize the signs of emotional abuse and protect themselves from being taken advantage of in similar situations.
