Public Health Specialist (Strategic Information) Team Lead – In-house Applicants Only
Duties
The job holder serves as a Supervisory Public Health Specialist (PHS) Team Lead supporting Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis (DHGT)/President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) activities and is responsible for planning, formulating, analyzing, evaluating, and implementing policies for CDC’s public health programs. Develops, oversees, coordinates, and manages new initiatives, special activities, and programs impacting various international public health activities, such as prevention, counseling and testing, and care and treatment.
Job holder works closely with partners within area of responsibility to support CDC’s public health programs, monitoring, evaluating and in some cases adapting existing or new innovative strategies to specific situations to ensure that program objectives are met. This leadership role requires extensive knowledge of a wide range of community and clinical interventions related to (HIV and TB Strategic Information) programs.
Job holder plays an essential role in developing annual program strategies, activities, work plans, budgets, and monitoring plans (e.g., the Country Operational Plan (COP/Annual Work Plans) and drafts regular progress reports related to program activities.

EXPERIENCE:
- Six years of mid-to-senior level public health experience in developing, implementing and evaluating, public health, global health security, or other relevant public health programs that involve coordination with an international agency or IP is required.
- An additional one-year managerial experience managing human and financial resources of international projects or programs is required.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s degree, or host country equivalent, in public health, epidemiology, informatics, computer science, biostatistics is required.
Public Health Specialist (Prevention), Kisumu
Job Overview
- The job holder serves as a Public Health Specialist supporting Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis (DGHT)/President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) activities for the implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of assigned public health program activities and studies. Job holder plays an essential role in developing annual program strategies, budgets, and drafts regular progress reports related to program activities.
- Job holder’s duties include technical support, advice and guidance, day-to-day program and administrative management and coordination and collaboration with colleagues of other agencies and public health entities that administer similar public health programs in Kenya. Job holder coordinates funding, report compliance and administrative recordkeeping with the implementing partners to assure projects are conducted in accordance with the implementing agreement and that USG funds are appropriately utilized.
- The position requires public health technical knowledge, results oriented analytical skills, advocacy, and constant and clear communication with implementing partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and host country ministries responsible for public health (HIV and TB prevention) programs.

Chauffeur (GSO Motor Pool)
Job Overview
The incumbents provide driver/chauffer services driving passenger motor vehicles, trucks and buses for the motor pool or warehouse for the General Services Office in accordance with instructions received from the Driver Supervisor and/or Dispatcher.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates Mission vehicles to transport authorized Mission employees that have signed up for ICASS Motor Pool services, and official visitors within the city and surrounding in country areas. When necessary, provide travel services outside of Kenya. Operates light trucks or pickup trucks for delivering of materials and equipment within Nairobi and surrounding areas. Complies with all Department of State safety and security rules while remaining vigilant to potential threatening situations and be prepared to take evasive action to protect passengers by moving them swiftly out of harm’s way and to a safe location. Remains alert at all times providing necessary security for the vehicle.
- Performs daily inspection of assigned vehicle to ensure that the vehicle is clean in and outside, seatbelts are operational, and engine, radiator, brake, clutch and battery fluids are at recommended levels, and the vehicle is in good running condition. Ensures that Vehicle tools and spare tire are in operational condition in the vehicle. Performs minor preventive maintenance and safety checks on a daily basis and informs dispatcher or motor pool supervisor of discrepancies. (80% of time)
- Completes the daily OF-108 motor vehicle usage records for each assigned vehicle for those trips made, and then transfers this same data into the Web-pass database promptly. Is available to work all shifts as well as upcountry travel, weekends, holidays on a rotating basis. Must also ensure that travel vouchers are turned in promptly after a field trip. (10% of time)
- Remains current and knowledgeable on Mission Policy for motor pool usage and reports any misuse of a vehicle by embassy personnel or co-workers. Monitors the local travel/driving environment, and takes action to avoid demonstrations, road construction or areas which could pose a danger to the travel of passengers or vehicles. Knows the locations of hospitals, police stations, and foreign missions. (10% of time)
- Wears the proper chauffer uniform while on duty.
- DOES NOT UTILIZE THE CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING. ENSURES THAT OFFICIAL RADIO IS IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION AND THE RADIO IS TURNED OFF AT END OF EVERY TRIP.

Duties
Provides administrative support and oversight of the ICASS staff providing services to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Medical Research Unit (MRU) employees in Kisumu and Kericho. Acts as management lead for Kisumu coordinating all management support including residential maintenance, FAP inventories, fuel control, preparation for direct hire arrival and departure and official visitor support. Coordinates day to day work of Facilities Maintenance staff. Provides community liaison service for the employees, serving as liaison with the schools and organizing social events as well as community information to the family members at post.
